Tibet
Tibet, often known as the ‘Rooftop of the World’, was closed to outsiders until the mid 1980′s when it opened its treasures to tourists and travellers. Most of Tibet sits on a plateau at an altitude of 4,000 to 5,000 metres above sea level. The Tibetan population of around 2.7 million is mainly nomadic, raising sheep, yaks and horses.
Trekking Adventures offer tours to Tibet, travelling overland from Kathmandu to Lhasa, as well as Cycling tours and trekking to Mt Kailash. On most trips we fly over the mighty Himalayan mountains between Lhasa and Kathmandu.
Tibet is like no other country and on some trips we visit Mt Everest Base Camp from the Tibetan side which has a entirely different vista to the Nepali side.
