The trekking itinerary is 53km pilgrim path around Mt. Kailash which begins and ends in Darchen, a small settlement at the mountain’s base. We walk in a clockwise direction around Mt Kailash and spend two nights near Drirapuk and Zutrulpuk monasteries.
After our trek around Mt Kailash we have a rest day at Lake Manasarovar before returning to the Tibetan / Nepali border where we transfer to Kathmandu.
Extra days have been built into this itinerary to give everyone the best opportunity to acclimatize.
Mt. Kailash (6,714m), Asia’s most sacred mountain, is located high on the Tibetan Plateau of Western Tibet. Mt Kailash is the Tibetan soul-mountain for Buddhist believers and for Hindus; Mt Kailash is at the center of the universe. Four major rivers of Tibet, India and Nepal have their sources near Kailash.
We start our trip in Kathmandu (the capital of Nepal); taking in a ½ day sightseeing to some historical sites on our way to Nagarkot which is on the rim of the Kathmandu valley (This is a good acclimatisation side trip which will help in the days to follow). Nagarkot has the most amazing sunset & sunrise over the nearby valleys and mountains.
The following morning we depart by road for the Nepali/Tibetan border where we cross the ‘Friendship bridge into Tibet and continue onto Nyalam for the night along the Friendship Highway.we drive up the longest downhill (160km) in the world through a deep lush green canyon with hundreds of waterfalls on both sides.
We turn off the Friendship highway to drive the next few days towards Lake of Manasarovar and Darchen where we will start our trek Mt Kailash. You just need to sit back and relax and enjoy the scenery.

Due to the earthquake in Nepal in 2015 our entry and exit to and from Tibet as mentioned above may change. This could also alter the pricing of what is quoted below.
